    Horse Stall Dimensions: Minimum Size, Recommendations and Regulations in Switzerland

    A stall must be at least 1.5 times as wide as the horse's wither height, the minimum floor area of a single stall ranges from 5.5 to 12 m² depending on the horse's size, and the minimum ceiling height ranges from 1.8 to 2.5 m. These three figures, from the Swiss Animal Welfare Ordinance (TSchV, Annex 1 Table 7), answer the most common question straight away. They apply equally to an indoor stall and an outdoor stall, and they are distinct from the product dimensions of any particular catalogue item – more on that in §8. As throughout our guides: this means the stationary stall, not a horse trailer.
